As the former General Manager of Morris Magazines Interactive, Ryan created and managed the Internet strategies for 12 magazine web properties, one of which was top 500 consumer magazine Western Horseman. He has personally won an Emmy for television excellence and lead teams to win 10 Telly Awards, The EPPY award for best community web site, AHP Electronic Publication of the year and over 20 other awards for industry excellence. Before selling his internet business Ryan was the Promotions Manager at WLS TV in Chicago. There, Ryan was involved in all phases of the marketing process from shooting film to producing broadcast programming. In addition, Ryan was a founding father of one of ABC TV's first web sites. His resume includes time at WPXR FM, WKBF AM, KBOB FM, WHBF TV, WQAD TV, WLOS TV and his last post at WLS TV in Chicago. Ryan is a 2 time Emmy nominee and one time winner. He has had the opportunity to work with such TV stars as Peter Jennings, Pat Sajack, Rick Springfield and many others. In 1996 Ryan, and his wife Andre’, followed their passion for horses and took a simple idea to sell horses online and created HorseCity.com. Ryan grew up as a preacher’s kid in rural Iowa and as a young member of the Metzger Family Singers, toured the Midwest with his evangelistic family. He and his family have lived in Illinois, North Carolina, Iowa, Georgia and South Carolina. Ryan attended Trinity College in Chicago. Ryan is the proud father of two boys; Dylan and Ethan. As a family, the Dohrn's raise AQHA race horses and Corgi dogs. With wife Andre' they own several prominent barrel racing stallions and are the owner Synergy Stables formerly Rose Hill Plantation. |
